With awards season well and truly upon us, red carpet style has definitely been pushed to the forefront of the sartorial agenda. At last weekend's Golden Globes, gowns from designers such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel and Marchesa stole the show, and although there's no chance I'll ever be invited to anything as glamorous, putting together my own dream awards outfit is definitely one way of getting into the spirit of things:
This look was undoubtedly inspired by wanting to evoke some classic silver screen glamour, much like a Bond girl from these iconic films, and with Skyfall being tipped for success at the BAFTAs next month, it seemed appropriate to put together an outfit which offered a little nod to such a quintessentially British franchise. As such, the core component of this look features a gown created by a phenomenally successful British designer- Jenny Packham. I love her romantic approach to design, and this embellished floral gown is just beautiful- the classic, understated shape and the intricate embellished detailing evoking a vintage style which works perfectly on the red carpet. Charlotte Olympia's accessories are some of the most coveted around at the moment, and I adore her whimsical, fun and innovative approach to design. This clutch bag not only co-ordinates with the dress beautifully, but it also injects a touch of personality to the look as a whole. Jewellery wise, these rose gold earrings by Monica Vinader are very simple but still extremely stylish, and I'm sure you'll agree that no contemporary red carpet look is complete without a Saint Laurent Arty Ring. The shoes by Lucy Choi London are classically elegant, and simple enough not to overpower the outfit, adding some much needed height to the maxi hem of the dress. Finally, the most iconic finishing touch of all comes in the shape of the Tom Ford lipstick in Crimson Noir- the perfect shade for evoking a slice of film star chic, don't you think?
Are you enjoying awards season? And who are your favourites on the red carpet?
