With Halloween just around the corner, my thoughts are turning to all sorts of spooky dressing. Whilst most of us probably can't get away with wearing a face full of ghoulish inspired makeup on the day itself, the shops are filled with lots of really accessible pieces to filter a little bit of spooky style into your wardrobe. Whether you're looking for some statement accessories, some gothic inspired pieces or a little nod to some perennial Halloween dressing up favourites, I've put together my edit of some of the best buys around at the moment:
Midnight Augustine Lace Top by Todd Lynn, £575, Avenue 32/Mercerized Sweatshirt, £29.99, Zara/Oversized Cigarette Print Tee Dress, £135, House of Holland/Black Glitter Cat Hat, £12.50, Topshop/Pumpkin Beanie, £12, ASOS/Bat Clutch, £18, ASOS/Trick or Treat Pumps, £475, Charlotte Olympia/Filigree Collar Necklace, £17.50, Marks & Spencer.
This Todd Lynn blouse from Avenue 32 is a gorgeous gothic piece, and one which is perfect for incorporating a sophisticated yet spooky edge into your wardrobe. The lace work is stunning, and as well as being a real standalone statement, it's also something which I think would work really well for layering too. I spied this sweatshirt from Zara in store at the weekend, and although it's not obvious Halloween attire, I think it captures a subtly spooky feel- ideal if you want a more casual approach. The triptych print is also really in vogue at the moment, so a definite must have if your approach is more high fashion than high jinx. This silk dress from House of Holland might not appear instant spooky attire at first glance, but it really reminds me of Margot Tenenbaum- a favourite Halloween character to dress up as if ever there was one! Channel Margot's signature look with this dress and also make a really savvy wardrobe investment- this would make a lovely purchase for the party season too. The cat costume is another winner, and this sequined hat from Topshop is a really easy, affordable option if you've got some black basics which you just want to add a bit of character to.
For a burst of autumnal colour, look no further than this super cute hat from ASOS- a practical, party appropriate purchase. This bat themed bag is another ASOS steal and a lovely piece if you want to take a more understated approach. Charlotte Olympia is always a failsafe for fun, seasonal treats, and these pumpkin pumps (!) are just amazing- a real statement way to take on any Halloween party. Finally, this necklace from Marks and Spencer would add a gloriously gothic edge to any outfit- and is a real keeper for the season ahead too.
Do you have any exciting outfit plans for Halloween?
