If I could bag a ticket to any red carpet event, it would have to be the Met Gala. Not only is it held in New York City, but it's an unashamed celebration of dressing up- the arena where couture pieces come to life and the glamour stakes are raised year after year. This year's Costume Institute Gala heralded the launch of the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which focuses on the parallels between both designers and their creative processes. As you'd expect, there was a lot of Prada on the red carpet, and a whole host of looks inspired by the 20s glamour which Schiaparelli captured in her designs. Here's a look at my favourites:

Lily Collins in a beautiful, ethereal Valentino gown.

Amy Adams, evoking classic Hollywood chic in Giambattista Valli.

Mia Wasikowska in intricately embellished Prada.

Jessica Stam looking amazing in Dior Haute Couture.

Emma Stone in Lanvin, accompanied by Alber Elbaz.

Jessica Alba, in glistening Michael Kors, with Hilary Swank.

Sarah Burton, flanked by Florence Welch and Cate Blanchett in stunning McQueen creations.

Who were your favourites from the Met Gala red carpet?

08.05.2012- Best-dressed at the Met

When I saw Jessica Stam on the cover of the February edition of W Korea, as photographed by Catherine Servel, I was instantly reminded of Debbie Harry...

...with the platinum blonde hair, pale skin and smokey eyes, it's not hard to see where the inspiration for this cover shoot comes from. And, with the style of the 70's making something of a resurgence this spring, I can't think of anyone better than classic Debbie to turn to when trying to recreate the Studio 54 look:

What do you think of Debbie Harry's style? And who are your style icons?

18.01.2011- Don't leave me hangin' on the telephone

Oh dear. Cold season is well and truly upon me. For the last few days I've had a cough, sore throat and now my nose has turned into a fountain. Brilliant. However, today I was determined not to let the germs get me down, so I went along to the Victoria and Albert Museum with my mum, to see the Diaghilev and the Golden Age of the Ballet Russes exhibition. Sadly, no photography is permitted inside the exhibition itself, but it really is worth a visit if you get the chance; the extensive costumes, set designs, original sketches and musical scores as well as the multimedia features do a wonderful job in bringing the work of the Ballet Russes and legacy of Diaghilev to vivid life.

Just before I hit the hay (cold permitting!), I had to share these lovely images from the November edition of Vogue, featuring one of my favourite models Jessica Stam, shot by Lina Scheynius and styled by Bay Garnett:

There is such a beautifully relaxed quality to the whole editorial, which you can see at NOIR FACADE. And a cameo appearance by a moggy is never a bad thing in my opinion! What do you think?

07.10.2010- Stam-ina

I got back from my holiday yesterday, after a really relaxing break. I've still got a mountain of unpacking to do, but couldn't resist posting this editorial from US Harper's Bazaar, featuring Jessica Stam. Shot by Alexi Lubomirski, the shoot is entitled Spanish Revival and, looking through it, I quite want to go back to the Spanish sunshine myself!

I really love the vibrancy of this shoot; you can just feel the sunshine seeping through the pictures. I hope to get some of my holiday photos up here soon, just as soon as I get my case unpacked!
