Since the age of about 11 (when I became obsessed with all things Lord of the Rings!), I've really admired Liv Tyler's style. Her attitude to fashion is relaxed, classic and easy-going, capturing an attitude which is quintessentially New York. As someone who is a little bit on the tall side, I also look to Liv (who is 5' 10") for inspiration- I love the way she returns to trusty staple items and never picks up a trend just for the sake of it. She's perfected the accessible wardrobe- cute patterned dresses teamed with beautifully cut blazers, understated accessories and timeless designer pieces all combine to create a series of signature looks which are effortlessly stylish:

This look is cool and uncomplicated, featuring items which are really versatile and classic. This beautiful pansy print dress from Warehouse is a dead ringer for the Thakoon design which Liv wore to the New York premiere of her film Super, and it's a piece that would look amazing dressed up or down. This blazer from River Island has a really luxe feel thanks to the leather effect lapels, and I think it's a staple item which you could wear again and again. These limited edition heels from New Look are stunning, and co-ordinate perfectly with the oversized clutch bag from Miss Selfridge- I love the gold accents. Finally, there are few things more classic than a pop of red lipstick, and this shade from Topshop is a brilliantly bold finishing touch.

What do you think of Liv Tyler's style? And who is your fashion icon?

11.12.11- Sunday Style Spotlight #10: Liv Tyler

Here are the images from Mulberry's Fall 2010 advertising campaign, featuring Abbey Lee Kershaw (who is everywhere at the moment) and Hanne Gaby Odiele, shot by Steven Meisel:

This campaign is full of fun, and the vibrant purples of the collection really stand out against the antique backdrops used. It also reflects the quintessentially English nature of the Mulberry brand, thanks mainly to the mouthwatering cakes featured in the second shot, which wouldn't look at all out of place at a sitting of afternoon tea. Talking of the Mulberry, I couldn't resist posting this photo of Liv Tyler from the Comic Con festival which took place in San Diego last weekend:

She's wearing one of my favourite dresses from the Autumn/Winter collection, and I think she looks great!

28.07.2010- Here we go round the Mulberry bush....

The humble blazer has become something of a wardrobe staple over recent years, and I for one can't get enough of them. A blazer is versatile, smart and practical- perfect for those overcast days where it's a bit too chilly to leave home without layering up. The blazer has also become a fast favourite on the red-carpet and in the wardrobes of this lovely lot:

I'm currently lusting after this trio:

Shawl Collar Tux Blazer, Topshop, £65

Beige Amy Jacket, Oasis, £60

Free People Floral Long Sleeve Blazer, Urban Outfitters, £49.99

So what do you think? Will you be investing in a new blazer for the summer?

18.06.2010- Blazin' a trail...

Last night at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, classic British label Burberry made a triumphant return to London Fashion Week, in celebration of the event's 25th birthday. The show attracted the most high profile guest list seen at any London Fashion Week event in recent memory, with international fashion editors, Hollywood stars and politicians (who on earth invited Peter Mandelson?) descending on the capital for an evening spent in the company of Burberry's creative director Christopher Bailey and his latest stunning creations for the fashion house.

The front row of the show glittered as much as the shimmering silver coat Bailey sent down the runway:

Face of Burberry's Autumn Winter 2009 advertising campaign, Emma Watson, wearing (of course), Burberry.

Victoria Beckham, wearing a beautiful dress from her own collection.

The lovely Freida Pinto, wearing a dress from Burberry's Spring 2010 collection.

Mary Kate Olsen, looking effortlessly cool as always; I just adore the beetle brooch adorning her classic black winter coat.

One of my all time favourites, Liv Tyler, proving (if you didn't know by now) that a good boyfriend blazer is a girl's best friend and a must have piece for any wardrobe.

Anna Wintour, wearing Oscar de la Renta, complete with her trademark sunglasses and immaculately maintained hairstyle.

I can't wait to see this collection up close when it will arrive in stores next season, I have already made a pact that I will treat myself to a classic Burberry trench before I die/ when I can realistically afford it without bankrupting myself, whichever comes first!
