Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to a very special preview of Cath Kidston's forthcoming AW15 pieces. Presented against the suitably seasonally themed backdrop of The Studio in Chiltern Street (complete with resident Father Christmas!), the collection encompassed a bounty of beautiful new designs, all of which are seriously wishlist worthy. As you would expect, there were plenty of gorgeous prints on display, as well as a selection of winter-ready favourites which made me (almost..!) look forward to the prospect of cosy evenings in:

As well as the instantly recognisable signature florals on display, I also got to preview some brilliantly bold new prints which I can't wait to see arrive in store. Alongside cosy winter staples such as pyjamas and fleece lined slippers (the dream!), the AW15 collection is punctuated by some perfectly practical accessories, including backpacks and oilcloth offerings a plenty. I also loved seeing lots of winter knitwear peppered with some lovely floral details, and have already added most of the jumpers to my shopping list to snap up once the weather starts to turn. I'm also determined to get ahead of the game when it comes to Christmas shopping this year, so was really pleased to see so many quirky stocking fillers on display too!

17.06.2015- Cath Kidston AW15 Press Day

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited along to the Boden SS15 Press Day. Now that we're in the midst of winter, the opportunity to pep up my day with a peek at lots of lovely new season pieces was a really welcome one, particularly as I'm a huge fan of the way that Boden theme their press days. This time around, the mood of the day was 'Great Boden in Bloom', with plenty of pretty florals and botanicals brewed up to evoke a perfect picture of springtime:

One of the first things which struck me as I made my way through the doors of Rook & Raven was the smell- with fragrant florals filling the air, it really was like I had taken a step into a garden in full bloom. As always, the styling of the location and the pieces was beautiful- with the botanical theme evoked through fresh flowers, vegetables and gorgeously green grass. My green fingered fancies were seriously indulged, as I found myself admiring the beautiful array of blooms and horticultural hallmarks almost as much as the array of pieces on display- particularly as the lovely ladies from Bloom & Wild were on hand with their signature bouquets!

From season to season, Boden always come up trumps with collections which offer wearable, everyday essentials alongside some more trend led designs. You might remember that their AW14 range really caught my eye thanks to the variety colour on display- and the same is true of the SS15 offering. As well as taking a more obvious theme and really running with it, this collection was punctuated by a series of standout pieces which conjure up bright summer days. Basic shirts are injected with a new sense of vibrancy thanks to an array of signature, eye-catching prints, and occasion wear offers a relaxed, comfortable, breezy feel with effortless shapes and the perfect balance of detail. Standout accessories come in the form of statement sunglasses, embellished bags and sandals which simply scream 'summer holiday'- and I for one am seriously sold!

A big thank you to Boden for the invitation- roll on SS15!

What do you think of this collection? Are you looking forward to spring?

16.11.2014- Great Boden in Bloom

Towards the end of last month, Sarah and I popped along to a very special festive preview hosted by Next against the backdrop of the always spectacular One Marylebone. After a stonking catwalk show last year, I was ultra-eager to see what they had on the cards for the coming months, and once again I wasn't at all disappointed. Another awesome catwalk show (complete with a stellar cast of models) saw pieces for the new season brought to vivid life, and styled with effortless ease. With the last days of summer seemingly well and truly upon us, I'm already anticipating snapping up some new autumnal wardrobe additions:

As well as an amazing array of eveningwear and accessories, the practical Penelope in me was completely won over by the winter woollies on display here, particularly the chunkier knits and Aran inspired detailing. I also adored the bold colours which punctuated the catwalk show, proving that winter doesn't always have to be about neutral hues and darker tones (I am so tempted to recreate the tangerine look!) With some 60s inspired styling and contrasting textures taking centre stage here too, it looks like the coming season is all about statement dressing with an understated, everyday sensibility- and the pairing of Nike trainers with skirts and dresses is one which I am definitely going to be following in the footsteps of!

Have you got your eye on any autumnal purchases?

27.08.2014- Next Christmas 2014

About a week or so ago, Elodie and I popped along to a very special event to celebrate the 21st birthday of Oliver Bonas. Olly's House had been set up in the heart of bustling Soho, and as well as housing a feast of tea and cake shaped indulgences, the space also showcased all that Oliver Bonas will be offering for AW14. Recently I've been becoming increasingly obsessed with all things interior themed (as is evidenced by my relentless pinning away on Pinterest!), so to have the opportunity to sneak a peek at the pieces which will be hitting the shops soon was simply too good to pass up:

Although there are some nods to the winter months throughout the collection, it's lovely to see vivid and vibrant colours forming the core aesthetic of the range. Statement neons shades add depth to more muted hues, and contrasting textures also add an element of opulence, with both practicality and function in mind. I really loved the characterful prints which ran across so many of the pieces too- the ideal way to add a splash of newness to your indoor space without breaking the bank. Fashion wise, I adored the patterns and different fabrics on display, and it was really interesting to see some of the colourful statements which comprised the homeware range carry though to bold accessories and jewellery. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for some of my favourite pieces hitting the shelves over the next few months- and with end of the year present planning already on the brain, I'm sure it won't be too long before I'm making detours home via the Victoria branch!

A big thank you to the Press Team for the invite and for being so welcoming!
